 The boy reached the door of the office after great effort, but he was stopped at the door itself. 

 “Why are you stopping me?” The boy asked. “Where do you have to go?” She asked haughtily. “I have to go up.” 

 “You’re not ready for that yet.” 

 “I have the degrees.” 

 “That’s not enough.” “Then what else?” The boy panicked.

 “You need to mete out some shares to go up.” The flat answer came.

 “What do you mean?” The boy’s eyes were stretched too much. 

 “Okay, just look to the right inside the office and tell me what’s going on?” She ordered.

 The boy put all his weight on his toes and listened intently. Then he said, “The office babu is asking that man for money to move the file.” She exclaimed with ire, “Remove both of your ears and keep them at the threshold here. These won’t fit inside.” 

 The boy was nervous and put away his ears. She then said, “Now, see what is happening on the left side?” 

 He tried his best and could see a little. He was speechless. “Tell me what you saw there!” 

 “The big boss is playing dirty with a young woman almost half his age….” 

 “Quiet! Hush! You are not fit to go inside. Just remove your eyes and keep them here underneath the doormat. Only buttons are allowed inside.” 

 “All right,” he said stutteringly and gave out his eyes. He then asked, “May I go now?”

“Not yet…cut these legs too.” 

 “Then how shall I walk in?” He said in disbelief. “You’ll get the crutches inside the Red-tapism brand. Now, hurry up, there are many others in the line.” 

 The boy cut his legs too. She walked through the office door with a smile and said to him, “Go in; now you are completely ready.”
